Manage messages
Messages is your personal inbox for notices and requests inside Intra AI. It includes announcements and invitations or changes concerning agents. It is not chat: you cannot compose free-form messages there, and chat conversations do not appear in it.
The page appears only when Messages is enabled on your instance. A sidebar count indicates new items that need attention.

Read the inbox
- Open Messages in the sidebar.
- Filter by All, Needs action or Unread.
- Select an item. On a wide screen its detail opens on the right; on mobile the view moves from the inbox to the detail.
- Opening an unread item marks it read. Use Mark as unread to undo that.
- Select Load more when older items are available.
Respond to a request
Some messages require a decision, such as an invitation to co-edit an agent. Check the sender, agent and proposed role before selecting Accept or Decline. The request remains open until you decide or it expires, is withdrawn or otherwise resolved.
An open request cannot be deleted. Bulk deletion also keeps items awaiting your response and reports how many were skipped. Respond to the request first.
Keep the inbox tidy
- Mark all as read marks all unread messages in your active inbox as read, including items beyond the currently loaded list.
- Archive removes items from the ordinary inbox without immediately deleting them.
- Archive opens archived items. Mark one unread there to return it to the ordinary inbox.
- Delete permanently removes an item. Deleting several selected messages asks for confirmation first.
- Checkboxes let you archive, mark unread or delete several items together.
Messages are currently retained for up to 180 days and then removed automatically. Do not use the inbox as a permanent record.

Reading a message does not automatically change the state of a related chat. Archiving an announcement message does not remove the underlying announcement from other surfaces.
Troubleshooting
- Messages is absent: the feature is disabled on your instance or unavailable to your role.
- The count remains: open the actionable item and answer any pending request.
- Deletion skips an item: it is still waiting for your decision.
- An item disappeared: check Archive, filters and the automatic retention period.
- An action fails: reload. If it persists, give your administrator the time and affected item.
